Brief History of the Church

                 A number of the people of Liberty Hill attended church services in the Old School House or at Tolerant Chapel and Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church.  In 1851 they were organized as the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church with a membership of “ten men and sixteen women.”

             The first church was erected in 1852, the present building, was erected in 1880 using many timbers from the original.

             The Educational Building was erected in 1970 through individual donations from members, former members, and interested friends.  In May of 1992, members and friends of the church dedicated a large addition to the education building named The Miss Bettie Richards Hall.  The building was built in nine months largely by members and was dedicated debt free.

             The current education building, named the Liberty Hill Church School, was originally constructed as the Liberty Hill School and served that purpose for many years.  It was purchased by the congregation in 1982 as the manse residence and was changed to the education building in 2008.
